CFM was founded in June 1990 with a view to provide individualized and ergonomically designed working environments. Service activities of CFM have always been focused on offering training, the selection of system components and system streamlining. In 1992 CFM recognized that there was a gap in the market for TWAIN drivers which satisfy the customers needs. CFM decides to develop TWAIN drivers, based on the Twain Specifications of the Twain Working Group.
After development of the first TWAIN Data Source for Microtek and Mustek scanners CFM gets in contact with RICOH B.V. and FUJITSU Europe. In 1993 CFM starts to develop drivers for these companies and soon after RICOH bundles the first CFM TWAIN drivers with their scanners. In January 1994 CFM joins the TWAIN Developers' Matrix of the TWAIN Working Group. In the same year a special CFM TWAIN driver version with support of the parallel port for the CANON IX-4015 scanner was released.
On the CeBIT'94 in Hannover the CFM TWAIN was presented on the booths of CANON, FUJITSU and RICOH. Because of the good resonance on the CFM software products CFM decided in March 1995 to give up the hardware business and to concentrate on the software development. As a result of this the CFM TWAIN SDK which was released to enable the fast and easy integration of the TWAIN Interface in applications.
